SAYREVILLE, NJ - Halloween's quarterfinal NJSIAA Central Jersey Group One matchup was relocated to the Sayreville Rec Center Turf due to Mother Nature's showers this week. For the second year in a row, 12th seeded Point Pleasant Beach High School eliminated the fourth seeded Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team from state tourney play. The Gulls defeated the Chargers 3-1 behind two goals from Sarah Shwahla and a goal from Daryl Monticello. Monticello also had an assist. Kayla Sabo netted the lone goal for Spotswood on a feed from Mandee Mendez. Julia Masucci made 10 saves for Spotswood and Morgan Highland stopped six Chargers' shots.

Point Pleasant moves on to the semis to face top seeded Shore Regional High School on Monday. Shore defeated ninth seeded Palmyra 7-0 on Thursday. Spotswood concludes the team's 14-4-2 season where they went undefeated for 12 straight games and earned 11 shutouts.
