RUMSON, NJ - Top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven High School ended the Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team's season on Tuesday with a 72-32 victory in the first round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two Sectional Tournament. The early round exit completes Spotswood's 2019-20 season. Spotswood finishes with a 12-15 overall record. Courtland McBarron earned a double-double for Rumson-Fair Haven with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Julia Corsentino netted a dozen points for the Bulldogs who move on in the tournament to face eighth seeded Shore Regional High School. Shore defeated ninth seeded Governor Livingston High School 44-39 to get into the quarterfinals.
Maddie Hellerich scored 13 points in her final game as a Charger. Jessica Addesso added eight points. Tuesday's state game was also Addesso's final in blue and gold. Kirti Craig had four points and Jackie Gialanella added three. Gialanella is a senior as well and played her last game as a Charger. Laci Brown and Giana Oelkers both chipped in two.
Addesso and Allison Clarke received Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division honors for their performances on the court with the Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team this season. Addesso was tapped for the GMC All-Blue Division first team while Clarke was named to the GMC's All-Blue Division second team. The senior was recently honored at the 34th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Seton Hall University. Clarke, a sophomore, earned six double-doubles this season, scoring 208 points in 28 games.
