SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Julia Masucci earned her first shutout of the season and sophomore Cailin Lennan netted her first varsity goal in the Spotswood High School girls varsity soccer team's 1-0 victory over Carteret High School on Thursday. Mandee Mendez assisted on Lennan's second half goal to help knotch the Chargers' victory in the season opener. Masucci made six saves in the win. Spotswood's offense kept goalkeeper Angie Cedeno busy. Cedeno made 14 saves in the game for Carteret. It was the second loss of the season for the Ramblers.

Spotswood hosts John F. Kennedy Memorial High School on Saturday. Game time is at 10 a.m. at the Spotswood High School Varsity Soccer Field.
