SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys basketball team opened the 2019-20 season with a win over South Plainfield High School. Spotswood defeated the Tigers 66-49 to earn the first victory of the season. The Chargers were up 37-21 at halftime. Jack Welsh led the Chargers with 22 points while George Guyette netted 15. Kyle Davey also put up double digits with 13 points. Andrew Bishara scored eight while Casey Cumiskey added five. Josh Liberato netted 14 for South Plainfield while Destiny Nwankwo scored 11.

Spotswood hits the road on Monday, December 23 to play Robbinsville High School for the team's first away game. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m. The Chargers will play in their annual holiday tournament at Bound Brook High School on Friday. Their first round opponent is Point Pleasant Beach High School.
