SPOTSWOOD, NJ - After scoring three first half goals, the 11th seeded Spotswood High School boys varsity soccer team stopped JFK's comeback to move into the first round of the Greater Middlesex Conference Boys Varsity Soccer Tournament on Tuesday. Spotswood defeated JFK 3-2 in the preliminary round and will now face sixth seeded Colonia High School on Thursday.

Yanni Hatzistefanis netted a goal and an assist in the victory for Spotswood. Liam Barlow and Luke Tharney also scored goals for the Chargers while Aiden Scher and Jason Schwartz. Andrew Bishara made eight saves while his counterpart Christopher Guallpa stopped 11 shots for JFK. Justin Carvalho and Jeremy Ortega-Carty scored the goals for JFK.

Spotswood travels to Colonia for Thursday's matchup. Game time is 6 p.m. Colonia has an overall record of 11-3-2. The Chargers have an overall record of 11-5-1. Spotswood and Colonia have not played this season. Colonia, along with the other top eight seeds in the 2019 GMC Tournament, had byes for the preliminary round.
