SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys varsity soccer team opened the 2019 soccer season on Tuesday. Spotswood was shut out by Middlesex High School, losing 2-0. Freshman Ignacio Arteaga picked up his first win and shutout as a varsity player, making three saves. Omar Seoudy had a goal and an assist for Middlesex as did David Bunting. Andrew Bishara made four saves on six Blue Jay shots for the Chargers.

Spotswood will face South Plainfield High School at home on Friday at the Spotswood High School Varsity Soccer Field. Game time is 4 p.m. Friday's matchup will be the Tiger's first game of the season. Spotswood has a five game homestand to start the season. The Chargers' first away game is against Wardlaw Hartridge High School on September 16.
