EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team dropped a Saturday afternoon game to the East Brunswick Bears. Spotswood went into the halftime break down by three and came up short against the Bears scoring 26 to East Brunswick's 29 in the final two quarters. Brianna Sliwinski put up 23 points to lead the Bears. Allison Clarke netted 18 for Spotswood. Maddie Hellerich and Kirti Craig both scored six points while Jessica Addesso added five for the Chargers. Julia Masucci chipped in four. Gianna Perez and Giana Oelkers each scored three.

Saturday's loss drops the Chargers overall record to 4-2. Spotswood is 3-2 in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division and is in second place behind Metuchen High School. The Chargers are back on the court on Monday when the team takes on Dunellen High School at Faber Elementary School in Dunellen. Spotswood has won the last five meetings between the two teams. Dunellen is 1-3 to start the season and winless in Blue Division games. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m. Monday will be the first meeting of the season between the two teams.
