JAMESBURG, NJ - The weather was ideal for the Greater Middlesex Conference Cross Country Championships at Thompson Park on Saturday. South Brunswick High School's Vidhur Polam claimed the boys varsity crown with a time of 15:49.10 while Metuchen High School's Caroline Schleif won the girls varsity title with a time of 19:13.83. Old Bridge High School earned the boys varsity team championship and South Brunswick High School won the girls.

Spotswood High School had a team of runners participate in the varsity, junior varsity and freshmen races. The boys varsity cross country team finished 16th overall while the girls varsity team finished in 11th place. Isabella Peverto was the Chargers' highest finisher in 53rd place. Peverto crossed the finish line with a time of 22:55.72. Tim Yarnall, the 2019 winner of the Spotswood 5K, was the highest male finisher with a time of 18:57.75.

Saturday's race was also Senior Day. Senior Day is a tradition at Spotswood High School where all graduating participants are showcased. Kaysi Fajardo, Kyle Obado and Jeremiah Hayes were all honored for their contributions on the cross country team during their time at Spotswood High School. The trio will be graduating in June.
