MIDDLESEX, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity football team ran into a rolling Middlesex High School team on Friday night. Middlesex defeated the Chargers 42-14 to improve their record to 5-0. Spotswood fell to 2-3 with the loss, but are 2-1 in the Greater Middlesex Conference. The Chargers return home on Saturday, October 12 to play the team's final home game of the 2019 season against Metuchen High School. Saturday is also the Chargers' annual homecoming game. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at the Spotswood High School Stadium.

Metuchen is currently 4-2 on the season and defeated Dunellen High School on Saturday 18-12. Spotswood has won the last five meetings between the two teams including a 21-6 victory last October. The Chargers finish out the regular season on the road, facing off against Dunellen, Roselle and St. Thomas Aquinas High Schools in the final three games.
