SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team defeated Carteret High School on Friday 37-26. The Chargers lead the Ramblers by 13 at the half and held Carteret's offense to zero points in the first quarter. Giana Perez and Jessica Addesso both put up eight points to help spark Spotswood's offensive charge. Carteret's Tija'Ney McCollum was the game's top scorer with 11.

Maddie Hellerich netted six points for Spotswood. The senior also grabbed 14 rebounds and had six steals. Sophomore Kirti Craig had five points for the Chargers while Megan Devlin and Giana Oelkers chipped in three each. Julia Masucci and Allison Clarke both added two. Clarke also pulled down eight rebounds.

Spotswood's victory improves the team's overall record to 4-1. The Chargers are 3-1 in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division. Spotswood is back in action this afternoon against East Brunswick High School. Tip off was at noon against the Bears at the East Brunswick High School Gymnasium.
