SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Allison Clarke and Jessica Addesso lead the Spotswood High School varsity basketball team past Woodbridge High School on Thursday during the Chargers' annual charity game. Spotswood defeated Woodbridge 55-45 to improve their overall record to 11-9. The Chargers play an annual charity game each season. This year all the proceeds from the event go towards supporting Alzheimer's New Jersey. Alzheimer's New Jersey assists people and families impacted by Alzheimer's and dementia.
Spotswood took a two-point lead into the halftime break and outscored the Barrons 31-22 in the final two quarters to earn the victory. Clarke was the game's top scorer with 17 points. The sophomore also earned a double-double in the game, grabbing 14 rebounds. It was her sixth double-double of the season. Senior Jessica Addesso netted 11 points in the win. Kirti Craig added seven points while both Julia Masucci and Giana Oelkers chipped in seven. Senior Maddie Hellerich returned to the lineup and had two points and five rebounds. Gianna Perez also had two points for the Chargers. Reema Azouzi scored 12 points for Woodbridge while Abigail Rodriguez and Isabel Reyes both netted 11.
The Chargers return to the court on Saturday when the team travels to Edison to take on JP Stevens High School. JP Stevens won the last two meetings between the two teams including one last February. Tip off is at 10 a.m.
