SPOTSWOOD, NJ - South River had three players net double digits and two earn double-doubles in Wednesday's 53-29 victory over the Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team. Ashley Fisher and Tiffany Fisher both had double-doubles. Ashley Fisher was the game's top scorer with 17 points. She also grabbed 16 rebounds. Tiffany Fisher netted 11 points and had 10 rebounds. Lauren Schmidt dropped 15 points to help the Rams win their third straight.

Spotswood was only down by nine at the end of the first half, but South River came on strong in the final two quarters, holding the Chargers to 17 points and scoring 31. The loss drops Spotswood's overall record on the season to 4-4. Sophomore Kirti Craig was Spotswood's hot hand with nine while senior Jessica Addesso scored eight. Freshmen Ava Hellerich netted four points. Julia Masucci, Cat Riley and Jackie Giaanella all added two points apiece while Megan Devilin and Gianna Perez both chipped in one.

Spotswood will look to rebound with a win against Metuchen High School on Friday. The Chargers travel up Route One to take on the Bulldogs at 7 p.m. Spotswood has won the last five meetings between the two teams. Metuchen is 5-2 so far this winter. The Bulldogs lost their last two games after winning their first five to start the 2019-20 season.
