SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team took on undefeated Middlesex High School on Friday. Middlesex kept its 14-0 streak alive with a 70-41 victory over the Chargers. The Blue Jays had a 47-14 lead at the halftime break. Brianna Montajes netted 13 as did Kaylin Nepton. Middlesex also had double digit performances from Jessica Fortel with 12 as well as Kristen Yonker and Neysa Aguilar who both put up 10 for the Greater Middlesex Conference leading Blue Jays.

Jessica Addesso was Spotswood's top scorer with eight points. Megan Devlin scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds. Allison Clarke pulled down 10 rebounds and chipped in four points on the scoreboard. Gianna Perez, Kirti Craig and Lauren Guyette all scored six points for the Chargers. Craig also had four assists and four steals.

The loss drops the Chargers overall record to .500. Spotswood is back in action on Tuesday, February 4 when the Chargers host Delaware Valley High School at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium. The two teams have not met on the court since 2012 when Delaware Valley came away with the win. Delaware Valley also has a .500 record. Tip off is at 6 p.m.
