HIGHLAND PARK, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team opened the 2019-20 season with a 73-22 victory over Highland Park High School. The Chargers had a commanding 43-11 lead over the Owls at the halftime break. Spotswood's defense pulled down 33 rebounds, blocked four shouts and had 19 steals.

Senior Jessica Addesso lead the Chargers with 17 points. Maddie Hellerich netted nine points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Allison Clarke put six points on the board and pulled down eight rebounds while Lauren Guyette earned five points. Julia Masucci, Cat Riley and Jackie Gialanella all scored four points. Kirti Craig, Ava Hellerich and Giana Oelkers each chipped in two. Janiya Mitchell and Sena Kapper-Dale both scored five points for the Owls.

Spotswood plays their home opener on Monday, December 23 at 6 p.m. against John F. Kennedy Memorial High School. The Chargers will then take the court for their annual holiday tournament next weekend at Monroe High School.
