SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team's three game win streak was halted Friday by Dunellen High School. Dunellen defeated the Chargers 48-35. Alexa Castro was the game's high scorer, netting 14 points for the Destroyers. Chloe Cassidy scored 11 for Dunellen who swept the season's series with the Chargers.

Julia Masucci was Spotswood's hot hand with 10 points. Allison Clarke had nine points and also pulled down eight rebounds. Giana Oelkers had six rebounds for the Chargers and also put three points on the scoreboard. Gianna Perez put up seven points and grabbed two rebounds.Kirti Craig added three points and Megan Devlin chipped in two for the Chargers whose overall record dropped to 7-7 with the loss.

Spotswood looks to rebound today when the Chargers host  a struggling New Brunswick squad at 1 p.m. at the Spotswood High School Gymnasium. The last time Spotswood and New Brunswick faced off on the court was in 2014. Spotswood won that matchup. New Brunswick has dropped their last two games and has a 1-13 overall record this season. The Zebras' only win came against Weequahic High School earlier this week.
