SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Fall athletes can begin summer workouts on July 27 providing the proper paperwork including a COVID-19 questionnaire has been filed with the Spotswood High School Athletic Department. Spotswood High School offers boys and girls soccer, football, cheerleading and boys and girls cross-country in the fall. In order to participate in summer workouts, student/athletes must complete their coronavirus questionnaire by July 20.
Medical paperwork for Memorial Middle School and Spotswood High School fall athletes can be dropped off at the Spotswood High School Main Office on the following dates:
- July 13, July 15, July 20, July 22 and July 27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- July 21 and July 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
All necessary medical paperwork can be found on the Spotswood School District website. Necessary forms include the health history update, athletic physical form, NJSIAA Consent to Random Steroid Testing Sign-Off, sports related concussions and head injury fact sheet, NJDOE Opioid Sample Sign-Off and Sudden Cardiac Death Pamphlet Sign-Off Sheet.
The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association released their guidelines for a return to play in mid-June. Middle and high school spring sports seasons were just about to begin when the coronavirus pandemic hit New Jersey, forcing the cancellation of the spring sports season.
