SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School Athletic Department honored its fall athletes on November 13 with student-athletes from the football, cheerleading, cross country and soccer program were all recognized for their varsity and junior varsity performances for the 2019 season. Highlights from the season included the boys varsity soccer team sharing the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division title with South Plainfield High School and the girls varsity soccer team's 12-game undefeated start to the season. September 14 was a big day for Chargers sports when the varsity football team, boys varsity soccer team and the girls varsity tennis team all defeated the Spotswood High School's chief rival South River High School on Senior Day. The girls cross country team also qualified for the NJSIAA Group Championships on November 16 in Holmdel Park and the boys varsity soccer team swept three games over the Rams, including the first round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two Tournament. Spotswood High School's boys varsity soccer coach Jeff Marvinny was also tapped as the Blue Division coach of the year for the fall season.
All student-athletes met in the gymnasium for the main portion of the Fall Awards Banquet before going to separate celebrations with their teams. Varsity letters and junior varsity athletes were recognized in the separate portion of the evening's events. The following athletes received recognition during the main awards ceremony for their athletic performances this season:

Senior Student Athletes of the Month
- September - Brian Lumsden and Kaysi Fajardo
- October - Steven Karczewski and Alyson Grigga
- November - Jamie Zavala
Kirti Craig, Julia Masucci, Amanda Mendez and Miranda Wells were recognized for being named to the Greater Middlesex Conference All-Blue Division Team. Masucci was also acknowledged for being named to the Greater Middlesex Conference Team. Yanni Hatzistefanis, Brian Lumsden, Chris Moran and Luke Tharney were recognized for being named to the Greater Middlesex Conference All-Blue Division Team. Hatzistefanis was also acknowledged for being named to the All Greater Middlesex Conference Team. Marvinny was recognized for being named All-Blue Division Coach of the Year by his peers.
As the fall season winds down, the winter season gears up with girls and boys basketball, winter track and wrestling on tap for the upcoming 2019-20 campaign.
