SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Before the coronavirus shutdown hit the Spotswood School District last Friday, student athletes from Spotswood High School's winter sports were acknowledged for their contributions at the annual Winter Sports Banquet on March 11. Varsity letters were handed out by coaches at each sport's individual banquet. However, the following students were recognized for being named Student Athlete of the Month during the 2019-20 winter season:

Other highlights for the winter sports season included junior Chloe Donelan second place finish in the Greater Middlesex Conference Individual Bowling Championship. Fellow junior Zach Weiner finished fifth in the GMC Wrestling Tournament. Weiner then went on to become a District 19 Champion in the 132-pound weight class. The teen moved on in competition to finish fourth in Region five wrestling championships. The fourth place finished sent Weiner to the high-profile NJSIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament in Atlantic City earlier this month. Weiner finished among the top 18 of his 132-pound weight class. Senior

Jessica Addesso represented Spotswood High School at the 34th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Seton Hall University. Addesso was the first student athlete from Spotswood High School to attend a National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration.

Practices for Chargers spring sports including baseball, softball, boys tennis, spring track and golf had just gotten underway when the coronavirus spread forced the shutdown of schools throughout the state including Spotswood High School. Student athletes have not been able to practice since last Friday.
