FRENCHTOWN, NJ - The Blue Division champs lost in overtime on Saturday afternoon to Delaware Valley High School. Matt Zdepski netted the OT winner three minutes into extra time to end the Spotswood High School boys varsity soccer team's run in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two Tournament.

Second seeded Delaware Valley moves on to face third seeded Monmouth in the semis. Monmouth defeated sixth seeded Rumson-Fair Haven to gain a semifinal berth. Rahway and Governor Livingston will play in the other semifinal matchup.

The seventh seeded Chargers had goals from Chris Moran and Luke Tharney on Saturday. Colby Raymond and Michael Reinhart had a goal and an assist for Del Valley while Robert Kischenmann earned an assist. Andrew Bishara made 13 saves for the Chargers.

Spotswood eliminated rival South River High School on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory in the first round of the state sectional tournament to move into yesterday's quarterfinals. The Chargers finish the 2019 season with a 14-8-1 overall record and a Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division title. Spotswood shares the title with South Plainfield High School. The Chargers last won a Blue Division title in 2016. That title ended a decade-long title drought.
