METUCHEN, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity basketball team's second half rally fell short on Friday and the Chargers lost 59-55 to Metuchen High School. Metuchen dominated the first half, scoring 37 points and keeping Spotswood to only 12. However, the Chargers were ignited in the final two quarters and outscored the Bulldogs 33-22, but were unable to make up for the first half deficit.

Jessica Addesso was the game's hot hand. The senior dropped 31 points for Spotswood. Metuchen had three platers net double digits in the game. Sam Atin scored 16, Chase Klavon put up 13 and Zoey Brown added 11. Julia Masucci scored eight for the Chargers while Gianna Perez added seven. Megan Devlin, Giana Oelkers, Allison Clarke and Jackie Gialanella all chipped in two points apiece.

The loss drops Spotswood's overall record to 4-5. Spotswood has lost their last five outings and has undefeated Middlesex High School on the schedule on Monday. Middlesex has an overall record of 7-0 and is also 5-0 in the Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division. The Chargers are 3-5 in the Blue Division. Middlesex won both meetings between the two teams last season. Tip off is at 6 p.m. at Middlesex High School.
