BOUND BROOK, NJ - The Spotswood High School boys varsity basketball team's second half rally fell short and Bound Brook High School defeated the Chargers in the finals of the 2019 Crusader Classic 52-50. Bound Brook led 33-16 at the half, but Spotswood came back strong in the final two quarters to out shoot the Crusaders 36-20. Jack Welsh and George Guyette were both named to the All-Tournament team for their outstanding play in Friday's win over Point Pleasant Beach and Saturday's finals.

Welsh put up 16 points on Friday and was the game's top scorer on Saturday with 19 points. Guyette netted 15 points in the first game of the tournament and scored six in the finals. Spotswood's Kyle Davey also scored double digits in the victory over Point Pleasant Beach with 13. Davey chipped in four along with Andrew Bishara in Saturday's loss to Bound Brook. James Clarke added 11 points for Spotswood in the Crusader final and Jack Andrulewich chipped in six.

Bound Brook's victory keeps the Crusaders undefeated to start the season. Quadir Harrell netted 17 for Bound Brook while Tyere Robinson, Bryce Cobb and Cam'Ron Summers all scored 9. Saturday's loss evens Spotswood's overall record to 2-2 to start the season.

Spotswood returns to regular season action on Friday, January 3 when the Chargers travel to Carteret High School. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m.
