SAYREVILLE, NJ - September 30 was an off day for the Spotswood School District, but the Spotswood High School varsity tennis team traveled to Kennedy Park in Sayreville to take on Sayreville High School. The Bombers defeated the Chargers 5-0 on Monday, dropping Spotswood's overall record to 3-7.

Gabriela Zeron lost her first singles match to Steph VanNote, (6-1, 6-2), while Karen Mausser lost her second singles match to Liana Masangkay, (6-0, 6-0). Axelle Lemiere was defeated by Grace Ekpe, ( 6-4, 6-3), in her third singles match. Chloe Donelan and Lindsey Michaels lost to Anushka Kondur and Camilla Rutkowski, (6-1, 6-2), in their first doubles match and Angelina Moschella and Melody Dzergoski dropped their second doubles match to Julia Kitrys and Jessica Grodzki, (6-1, 6-2).

Spotswood is back on the courts on Wednesday, October 2. The Chargers will play in the first round of the NJSIAA Tennis Tournament against Roselle Park High School at the Spotswood High School tennis courts on Summerhill Road. Roselle Park also has a 3-7 overall record. Matches begin at 2 p.m.
