WOODBRIDGE, NJ - The Spotswood High School girls varsity tennis team got back on track with a win on Friday, defeating Perth Amboy High School 4-1. Gabriela Zeron beat Charlize Leon, (6-4, 7-6), to win her first singles match. Zeron won the second set tie-breaker 7-5 to take the match. Karen Mausser won her second singles match over Yeng Sae, (6-3, 7-5). Axelle Lemiere won the first set of her third singles match with Janai Pegeron, (6-2), but Pegeron rallied back to win the next two sets, (7-5, 6-3), to earn the only match point for Perth Amboy.

Chloe Donelan and Lindsey Michaels won a hard-fought first doubles match over Nicole Velez and Ashley Collade. Donelan and Michaels lost the first set, but came back to win the next two to win the match, (4-6, 6-2, 6-3). The freshman pair of Melody Dzergoski and Angelina Moschella won in straight sets over Keely Grande and Guardalupe Herrera, (6-1, 6-1).

The victory improves the Chargers overall record to 2-2. Spotswood is back on the court Monday for a 4 p.m. home match against Metuchen High School.
