SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Rucinski sisters combined on the mound to keep Highland Park High School off the scoreboard on Tuesday. The Spotswood High School varsity softball team shut out the Owls 13-0. Diana Rucinski got the win on the mound after two innings of work and striking out two. Cynthia Rucinski finished the final three innings, striking out three batters. Sena Kaper-Dale took the loss for Highland Park, giving up 13 runs on 13 hits and striking out three.
Lexi Brown had three RBIs for Spotswood with a single and a double. Breanna Socoloski had an RBI double while Gianna Perez had an RBI single. Erin Coffey his two singles and had two RBIs. Jenn Polropinski hit a triple and Alex Diaz had a single. India Fields, Flor Queseda, Michelle Edralin and Nicole Edralin all had hits for Highland Park.
Spotswood's overall record improves to 10-4. The Chargers travel to East Brunswick High School on Wednesday to face the Bears. East Brunswick has an overall record of 9-8 this season. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
