EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Spotswood High School's Matt Bohinski was the highest finisher for the Chargers varsity wrestling squad in the East Brunswick Invitational. Bohinski finished second in the 182-pound weight class at the winter break tournament that took place at Churchill Junior High in East Brunswick on December 27. The senior lost to Point Pleasant Beach's Jason Sherlock on a fall to earn second place.

Connor Johnson was Spotswood's next highest finisher. Johnson finished third in the 152-pound weight class by defeating North Brunswick's Abraham Alaboudi on a fall. Tony Caron and Zachary Weiner both finished fourth in the tournament in their respective weight classes. Steve Melillo, Bob Wehrle and Madden Obado all took fifth place in their weight classes while George Marakis earned a sixth place finish in the 113-pound weight class.

Spotswood finished seventh in a field of 13 teams with 97 points. Point Pleasant Beach High School took first place with 219.5 points. Somerville High School was second with 198 points and Matawan-Aberdeen High School was third with 162.5 points. Host team, East Brunswick High School, finished ninth with 89 points.

The Chargers return to regular season action on Saturday when the team travels to Hamilton High School West in Hamilton Township for a multiple team meet. Matches are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
