MIDDLESEX, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity wrestling team lost a back-and-forth meet to Middlesex High School on Tuesday. Spotswood lost the closely contested meet 34-33. Each team won seven individual matches. The results of the meet including weight class and result are as follows:

  • 113 Kevin Beck (Middlesex) over Thomas Perpente (Spotswood) by a fall
  • 120 Tony Caron (Spotswood) over Beqa Bedoshvili by a 5-1 decision
  • 126 Yash Goswami (Spotswood) over Jacob Platten (Middlesex) by a fall
  • 132 Tyler McCrimmon (Middlesex) over Matt Varga (Spotswood) by an 8-5 decision
  • 138 Zach Weiner (Spotswood) over Declan Swain (Middlesex) by a 15-0 technical fall
  • 145 Jacob Oster (Spotswood) over Alfred Platten (Middlesex) by a 4-2 decision
  • 152 Nick D'Alessio (Middlesex) over Connor Johnson (Spotswood) on a 4-2 decision
  • 160 Roberto Aroaz (Middlesex) over Bill Schwemmer (Spotswood) by a fall

The victory moves Spotswood's overall record to 7-10. Spotswood is the fifth seed in the Central Jersey Group One NJSIAA Wrestling Tournament that begins on Monday, February 10. The Chargers go up against fourth seeded Palmyra High School in the quarterfinal round. Weighs begin at 4:30 p.m. with matches starting at 6 p.m. at Palmyra High School. Palmyra has an overall record of 12-6 and has won their last five meets. Spotswood won its first-ever NJSIAA match last February when the Chargers defeated New Egypt High School to move into the semifinals. The Chargers were then eliminated by Shore Regional High School in the semis.
