SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Yanni Hatzistefanis' hat trick helped the Spotswood High School boys varsity soccer team end their three game skid with a 6-0 shutout over Somerville High School on Monday. The shutout was the fifth of the season for Andrew Bishara who also earned an assist in the victory. Liam Barlow had one goal and an assist in the win. The Chargers also had goals from Steven Karczewski and Luke Tharney. Tharney had two assists as well. Hatzistefanis had one assist to give the senior four points on the afternoon.

Spotswood improved its overall record to 7-5 and gets set to meet South River High School on Wednesday evening in the annual night game between the two rivals at Veterans Field in South River. The Chargers defeated the Rams earlier this season, winning 2-0 on Senior Day. Spotswood has won the last four outings between the two teams. Game time is 5:15 p.m. on October 2. South River is currently 8-4 andd is 4-1 in its last five games.
