MONTCLAIR, NJ - A 3-Alarm fire broke out at 203 S Mountain Ave. sometime before 12 noon on Monday.

According to the breaking news network, officials reported a heavy fire in the large 2.5 story residential structure. The flames were seen by eyewitnesses coming through the roof of the home.

The homeowner and occupants were reported safe and were seen standing outside the home while firefighters fought the blaze.

Deputy Fire Chief Duncan stated, "At 11:45am the Montclair Fire Department received a report of a house fire on South Mountain Ave."  

When Fire Department units arrived, Duncan confirmed that they found heavy volumes of smoke coming from the 3rd floor.  

"The fire extended from the 3rd floor through the roof."  

The fire that reached 3-Alarm levels had the assisance of units from Newark, West Orange, East Orange, Clifton, Bloomfield, Cedar Grove to help to bring the blaze under control. 

Duncan confirmed that, "The building sustained heavy fire damage to the 3rd floor and roof, smoke damage to the 3rd floor, and water damage throughout."  

No injuries were reported at the scene.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
