$30K Stolen from Cedar Grove Home, $10K in Jewelry From Another

CEDAR GROVE, NJ - Cedar Grove police are investigating the theft of $30,000 and the theft of $10,000 worth of jewelry.

The first incident occurred on Aug. 3 on Clover Court.  The resident reported the theft of jewelry valued at $10,000.  The resident told police that the jewelry was stored in the attic, where work had recently been performed on the HVAC system. The detective bureau is investigating the contractor who performed the work.

The second incident happened on Aug. 6 around 2 p.m. on Stevens Ave.  A resident reported a burglary and theft of a safe containing $30,000 from the basement of her residence. The victim told police that two days ago a white male came to her door identifying himself as an employee of the Cedar Grove water department. The suspect told her there was a water problem in the area and he needed to access her basement to inspect the meter. The incident is under investigation by the detective bureau.
