You are cordially invited to our Jazz and BBQ fundraiser celebrating our mission of providing meaningful arts-in-education opportunities for students, educators and communities in the state of NJ. Our honorees this year are AFK Board member Desiree Gordon, a Montclair, NJ native and S. Orange resident, Bassist, Producer and Art Advocate John Lee, who is the Director of The Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All Star Bands as well as the founder of "The Giants of Jazz" annual celebration at SOPAC.

Entertainment provided by Grammy award winning Pianist and Producer Nat Adderley Jr. and his trio and The Vince Ector Quartet featuring Tap sensation Maurice Chestnut.

Three School Buses Involved in Crash at Clark's ALJ High School

CLARK, NJ - Three buses collided in the Arthur L. Johnson High School parking lot around noon on Thursday.   There were students on the buses at the time according to Police Chief Pedro Matos.

Assembly Democratic Bill to Ensure Safety of Special Needs Students on School Buses Clears Assembly Panel 

June 21, 2018

TRENTON, NJ – Legislation sponsored by Assembly Democrats Daniel Benson, Valerie Vainieri Huttle, Reed Gusciora, Ralph Caputo and Andrew Zwicker to protect special needs students who ride school buses was released Monday by an Assembly panel. 

This bill (A-4332) would establish a minimum ratio of school bus aides to special needs students on a school bus.
