Montclair – A 49-year-old male fell to his death on Monday morning while riding his mountain bike, according to law enforcement officials.
The body of a male biker was recovered at Mills Reservation at approximately 11:25 a.m. on Monday.
Sheriff Armando Fontoura said the victim, a resident of Wayne, had been riding his mountain bicycle when he lost control of it near the edge of the road and plummeted approximately 20 feet onto a rocky ledge.
“The incident happened at 9:00 a.m. today,” Sheriff Fontoura noted. “The body was recovered by the Newark Fire Division and their EMS Unit. While an investigation into the incident is on-going it appears to have been an accident and no foul play is suspected at this time.”
The brother of the deceased was riding with the victim this morning. He notified law enforcement of the incident and remained on the scene.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of other family members.
