Montclair –   A 49-year-old male fell to his death on Monday morning while riding his mountain bike,  according to law enforcement officials. 

The body of a male biker was recovered at Mills Reservation at approximately 11:25 a.m. on Monday.

​Sheriff Armando Fontoura said the victim, a resident of Wayne, had been riding his mountain bicycle when he lost control of it near the edge of the road and plummeted approximately 20 feet onto a rocky ledge.

​“The incident happened at 9:00 a.m. today,” Sheriff Fontoura noted.  “The body was recovered by the Newark Fire Division and their EMS Unit.  While an investigation into the incident is on-going it appears to have been an accident and no foul play is suspected at this time.”

​The brother of the deceased was riding with the victim this morning.  He notified law enforcement of the incident and remained on the scene.

​The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of other family members.
