NUTLEY, NJ - A 28 year old Bloomfield woman is facing drug charges including being under the influence and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) following a car crash in Nutley last Sunday.
A BMW crashed into a parked car on Franklin Ave around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The force of the impact caused the front end of the parked car into a utility pole near the parking lot of a Franklin Ave. business.
The Nutley Police Department confirmed that the driver of the BMW, Marissa Grant, was unconscious at the time police arrived at the scene of the accident. She was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation by members of the Nutley Volunteer Emergency and Rescue Squad. The owner of the other vehicle is an employee of Nutley Park ShopRite and was in the store at the time of the accident. She was able to retrieve her personal belongings from her car before both vehicles were taken away by Nicolette Towing.
Witnesses on the scene report that it appeared that the BMW was 'out of control' and may have been attempting to make an illegal u-turn at the time it struck the parked car. The parked car was hit with enough force to cause significant damage to the front end. Debris from the impact was found further down Franklin Ave near the exit of the parking lot. There were no pedestrians or other vehicles in the path of the flying debris.
