MONTCLAIR, NJ - This weekend was the grand opening of Dolly Moo, a quaint handmade skincare shop located at 217 Glen Ridge Avenue. The store is owned by Nicci Silva and Amy Rivera, who started Dolly Moo five years ago in Bloomfield, with a simple message: “You are Beautiful”.
Historically Silva did craft shows, wholesale accounts, and is also represented in Whole Foods.
Body scrubs, body oils, bath balms, perfume oils, lip balms, remedies for sleeping, headaches, and sore muscles were some of the products on display. All natural, cruelty free, ingredients go into their products, which line the beautifully displayed walls.
Tap into Montclair followed the lavender scent, and sounds of reggae, into the mixing room to find Silva in her workshop, behind the open curtain, concocting wonderful potions to relax and beautify her clients.
On Sunday a henna artist named Margaret stood at a popup tent in front of the store, offering tattoos starting at $10. Lavender and essential oils are the base of her tattoos.
Ariane Duarte, owner of Ariane Kitchen & Bar in Verona (previously CulinAriane in Montclair) was the first Dolly Moo client this morning. Duarte said, “It is the first time I am in the store. We’ve known Nicci since she started her vision of Dolly Moo. I am so proud. It is beautiful; her products are top of the line. It’s perfect for Montclair.”
Silva, with a large tray of donuts in hand (for incoming visitors), explained that they are looking toward the holidays to promote the business more. Customers should look out for the Black Friday sale of 25% off.
On their way out, guests were encouraged to make a wish at the colorfully adorned fairy tree outside. Many wished Dolly Moo success.
