Driver Disobeys Closed Rail Gates, Collides with NJ Transit Vehicle

MONTCLAIR, NJ – Montclair Police and New Jersey Transit officials are investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a NJ Transit maintenance vehicle collided with a driver on Lorraine Avenue. It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle went around the closed railway gates and was hit by the NJ Transit vehicle.

The female driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was treated for a cut over her eye.

As a result of the accident, the Montclair-Boonton rail service was delayed with trains resuming normal service with residual delays after the car was towed.
