Event Photographer Charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child

SOMERVILLE, NJ - An event photographer/videographer has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, 3rd Degree, by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson identified the suspect as Paulo Henrique Amorim,  26, of Sanford Avenue, Kearny.

Raritan Borough police were informed that the suspect had exchanged Instagram account names with a minor under the age of 14 while working as a photographer/videographer at a martial arts event.

Shortly afterwards, the suspect began communicating with the minor.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit and the Raritan Borough Police Department determined that Amorim's exchanges on Instagram with the minor were of a sexual nature.

The suspect was located in Kearny Jan. 18 by police, transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office in Somerville, and subsequently arrested without incident.

He was lodged in the Somerset County Jail, pending a detention hearing.
