MONTCLAIR, NJ - Fireball? It’s not just a cocktail made with vodka, wine and jalapenos! It was a fundraiser for Hillside and Nishuane, organized by Jennifer Adubato, Amy Gideon, Erica Mitchell, and Sidney Simon, plus a team of volunteers, held at Mayfair Farms in West Orange this past Friday evening.

The well-attended event brought hundreds of people together to dance, dine, and bid on anything from NY Yankees tickets, to student art projects to a week in the Catskills. Proceeds have not yet been calculated but we were told that 450 tickets were sold. Sidney Simon said, “We would consider this a very successful event.”

Simon added, “Our efforts will support refurbishing spaces for inventive and hands-on learning, provide our classrooms with equitable access to technology, upgrading the audio/visual equipment in the auditorium and more.”

Mrs. Martire, second grade teacher from Nishuane School said, “What a great turnout! I am always impressed by the tremendous support of Montclair public school parents. I feel very fortunate to be working in such a supportive district for almost 20 years!”

Eric Ciambra, a parent in attendance told TapInto that he found the event very entertaining. He said, “We all live very hectic lives with work and family and these events are always such a good opportunity to catch up with fellow parents with whom you have a connection and who you enjoy as people.  When asked whether he won any of the baskets that were raffled off he added, “We did not win anything, but we donated a few things, and seeing them sell for a good cause was as if we did”.

Tessa Vining, another parent on the dance floor told us, “It was a fun evening. A lovely way to connect with the school community for some adult time. I’m always in awe of the PTA and volunteers and their ability to organize such a lovely and profitable event.”
