Former President of Essex County Sheriff’s PBA, Charged With Theft

NEWARK, NJ - Former president of the Essex County Sheriff’s Officers PBA Local 183 was charged with theft, prosecutor's announced Monday. 

Christopher Tyminski was charged for using a PBA-issued credit card to pay for over $14,000 in repairs to his personal vehicle.

None of the allegations involve Tyminski’s official capacity within the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, according to a statement made by Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray.

Tyminski was served and processed by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office on Friday, February 3. He was given an arraignment date of February 16.

Murray stressed that these are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they plead guilty or are found guilty in a court of law.
