Great music continues at the Ross Farm, June 3

Nationally touring indie musician Jared Mahone plays a solo show at the Ross Farm in Basking Ridge on Saturday, June 3 at 7 p.m. Details can be found at

The Ross Farm Music Series continues Saturday, June 3 with a solo acoustic show on the Patio Stage of the Tack House on the bucolic Somerset County Parks property in Basking Ridge. Jared Mahone makes his Ross Farm debut the day before he returns to the legendary Rockwood Music Hall in New York City.

As a forerunner of the Midwest "garage soul" movement, Mahone has patiently turned hometown open mic night glory into a humble career as a nationally touring independent musician. His raw, acoustic story songs are inspired by an amalgamation of his upbringing on '90s soul, R&B, and hip hop, combined with his passion for grinding out band music with real instruments and talented friends. These elements he absorbed while growing up in the concrete neighborhoods of Columbus, OH.

Despite regional recognition as the 2013 Verizon Indie Icon, national recognition from his appearance as musical guest on Katie Couric's ABC daytime talk show, or being named Best Male Artist in the 2014 International Acoustic Music Awards, Jared dismisses fame chasing. Instead, he favors a troubadour-style trudge across the country meeting new supporters one handshake at a time.

Gates will open at 6:30 and the music will begin at 7 p.m. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets and feel free to bring a picnic dinner or refreshments to enjoy during the show. A suggested donation of $20 for adults and $10 for students supports all the activities of the Friends of the Boudinot-Southard-Ross Estate, the 501(c)3 non-profit organization that hosts events on the beautiful historic property. The Ross Farm is located at 135 N. Maple Ave. in Basking Ridge. More details can be found at where guests can RSVP their attendance and also make an on-line donation in advance of attendance.
