Indie Arts Montclair Skillshare Planned for March 7-10

Montclair, NJ -  Indie Arts Montclair, a local collective of artists and activists, is excited to announce that the Indie Arts Montclair Skillshare will take place March 7-10, 2018.

“We are happy to be able to bring this type of programming to the Montclair community,” said Greg Pason, I AM co-director and Montclair Skillshare founder. “We are committed to finding ways to help people to learn new skills and to work collaboratively on exciting hands-on projects.” Indie Arts Montclair is proud to be a NJ Makers Day participating organization. Community members of all ages are invited to join us for 4 exciting days filled with activities focusing on maker culture.

What is a skillshare? An open presentation or discussion, preferably with some hands-on activities, with 2 main goals: 1) share knowledge,  2) learn something new. It's always fun to learn something new- even better when it's done with friends and neighbors.

At venues all over Montclair, hosts will share their skills on many varied topics. Participating venues include, among others, 73 See Gallery, HackNCraftNJ, and The Creativity Caravan. Past events have included soldering, live fermented sauerkraut, kombucha making, herbal infusions, floral centerpiece design, Sean Nos dance, and introductory fiddle.

"HackNCraftNJ and Laptop Upcycle are proud to support Indie Arts Montclair and Montclair Skillshare 2018. The human connections we make with each other to share our knowledge and learn a craft or a technical skill empower both student and teacher and give us the opportunity to slow down and reflect in these busy times. It's exciting that Indie Arts Montclair is hosting this again in 2018, and we encourage everyone to join them, pass on their expertise, and make a difference in Montclair. Help us build a vibrant Maker community here!", said Jon Bonesteel, co-founder of HackNCraftNJ and Laptop Upcycle.

Proposals for skillshares and skillshare ideas are being accepted on the Indie Arts Montclair website here:
