EAST ORANGE, NJ - Each Friday evening in August has been transformed into ‘Soulful Fridays’ by the Central Avenue Business Improvement District (CABID). CABID has been sponsoring musical artists, outdoor fashion shows, spoken word guests and local bands in an attempt to breathe much needed life into the business district on Central Avenue; and by all accounts, their strategy is working.

The Friday night event has been attracting more and more patrons, including Mayor Lester Taylor and several members of the East Orange City Council.

Each Friday, CABID President David Hill and members of the Central Avenue business community commission talented artists to decorate the Central Promenade (the area between Central and Sanford) into prime performance space. Friday nights on Central Avenue have definitely become a destination location.

However, this Friday (August 26th) is the close-out for the event. According to event coordinator, Mark Cheatam, attendees can expect a grand time and certainly should come out to support our local merchants.
