Men of Essex Honored Hospital Executives During Golf Classic

EAST ORANGE, NJ - The Men of Essex celebrated their 56th Annual Golf Classic August 8th at Cedar Hill Golf and Country Club in Livingston with an enthusiastic and dedicated group of members, supporters and well-wishers. The list of attendees read as a virtual ‘who’s who’ in and around the Essex County area; but among the dignitaries were two gentlemen with the unique distinction of being the only two African American Presidents and CEOs operating major health facilities in the State of New Jersey.

They are Otis L. Story, Sr. FACHE, Chief Executive Officer and President at East Orange General Hospital Inc. and Darrell K. Terry, Sr., MHA, MPH, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer for Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey in Newark.

Both gentleman were honored during the evening for their stellar accomplishments and dedication to the community. And in an act of selfless humility, EOGH President Otis Story surprised the audience as he took time during his award acceptance speech to give a heartfelt salute to his counterpart, President Terry, noting the enormity of his accomplishment as a much younger man at a huge and influential health organization.

The Men of Essex Annual Golf Classic is the primary fund raising event for the organization. TAPinto staff spoke to the organization chair, Christopher Mobley, who remarked that the proceeds of the fundraisers throughout the year, assisted the organization in fulfilling their mission of recognizing student-athletes for their achievements and supporting their higher education aspirations via their Student Aid Fund.  
 
The Men of Essex is a 501[C] [3]  non-profit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
