EAST ORANGE, NJ - The Men of Essex celebrated their 56th Annual Golf Classic August 8th at Cedar Hill Golf and Country Club in Livingston with an enthusiastic and dedicated group of members, supporters and well-wishers. The list of attendees read as a virtual ‘who’s who’ in and around the Essex County area; but among the dignitaries were two gentlemen with the unique distinction of being the only two African American Presidents and CEOs operating major health facilities in the State of New Jersey.

They are Otis L. Story, Sr. FACHE, Chief Executive Officer and President at East Orange General Hospital Inc. and Darrell K. Terry, Sr., MHA, MPH, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer for Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey in Newark.

Both gentleman were honored during the evening for their stellar accomplishments and dedication to the community. And in an act of selfless humility, EOGH President Otis Story surprised the audience as he took time during his award acceptance speech to give a heartfelt salute to his counterpart, President Terry, noting the enormity of his accomplishment as a much younger man at a huge and influential health organization.
