MONTCLAIR, NJ - Montclair administrators gathered with Superintendent Penny MacCormack for a three-day leadership training session.
While families were enjoying the last days of summer vacation, school was in session at the annual Administrator’s Retreat that took place Aug. 19-21 at Montclair High School's George Inness Annex. The retreat is an opportunity for administrators to share information and ideas and prepare for the upcoming year.
MacCormack welcomed administrators back to a new school year. “We are a very good school system already,” she said. “To become exceptional, it will be because of you.” She encouraged staff to “support one another, go the extra mile,” to ensure students are learning at the highest level.
Topics and activities at the retreat included technology training, school improvement plan and student growth objectives, PARCC, diversity, Marshall rubric, response to intervention and more.
Kimberly A. Ferguson, Myers-Briggs type indicator practitioner, also reviewed personality types and how understanding different leadership styles can help improve communication.
Administrators will be greeting new teachers this week ahead of the first day of school for students on Sept. 4.
