Montclair Drifters Donate Toward Montclair Fire Department Annual Holiday Toy Drive


MONTCLAIR, NJ - The Montclair Fire Department was presented with a check and gifts on Monday from the Montclair Chapter of the Drifters to help support their annual toy drive.

Montclair Drifters President Tracy Munford, Vice-President Penny Corum and Marguerite Foster were in attendance to present the check during the annual drive that goes to provide holiday gifts for children. Along with the Drifters, also in attendance were Montclair Mayor Robert Jackson, Fourth Ward Councilor Renee Baskerville,Cynthia Walker from SOFIA and Rosalyn Terry from Montclair Child Development Corporation, Inc.

The Montclair Drifters are a group of women with charitable, civic, educational, and social interests, who have dedicated their talents to the enhancement of their chosen communities and the universal image of womanhood.

SOFIA and MCDC both received checks last week from the Drifters for their organizations. The Montclair Chapter of Drifters Incorporated also spread holiday cheer to the MCDC by recently hosting dinner for families in need.

Fourth Ward Councilor Renee Baskerville said, "The Montclair Drifters have been a blessing in our community in so many ways."

Baskerville continued by highlighting some other ways that the Drifters have contributed to the Montclair community. "They contribute to Interfaith Hospitality Network to help with individuals who are homeless, they have adopted SOFIA for the last 4 years and help to provide resources and volunteer support for them, they have contributed to most of the 4th Ward Collaborative activities including the Harvest Fest, Spring Fling, Winter Holiday celebrations and Backpack give away. Their efforts are invaluable and greately appreciated."
