MONTCLAIR, NJ - The Montclair Firefighters were busy extinguishing two deck fires that occurred on Tuesday, Deputy Fire Chief Robert Duncan confirmed.

The first fire occurred on Forest St. at approximately 10:08am.  Fire officials responded to find the second floor rear deck on fire and were able to extinguish them within a couple of minutes. 

Fire damage was confined to the exterior deck and deck furniture.  The fire investigators determined that the fire was caused by an unattended candle.  Fire units cleared the scene at 10:57am, Duncan stated in a release.

The second fire occurred on Mission St. at approximately 4:22pm.  The Montclair Firefighters arrived to find the 1st floor rear deck on fire and had it under control within a few minutes, stated Duncan.  

The fire caused damage to the deck and exterior wall of the house.  The cause of the fire is under investigation by Fire Officials.  Fire units cleared the scene at 5:16pm.

No injuries were reported in either case.
