MONTCLAIR, NJ - A neighbor noticed a small brush fire in the bushes in front of a Montclair home a short time after 8 PM Tuesday.  

Montclair firefighters responded to the scene of 17 Melrose Place to extinguish the small fire in front of the residence.

No injuries were reported.

Update:

Chief John Herrmann stated that the fire was caused by mulch that had been placed over landscape lighting. He said, "The power to the lighting was turned off and the fire was extinguished."
