MONTCLAIR, NJ - Montclair Firefighters responded to a home located at 28 Waterbury Road on Sunday afternoon around 3pm after the owner reported smoke coming from their roof.
According to Montclair fire officials, the homeowner reported seeing smoke near their roof. When MFD units responded, they found a smoke condition coming from the roof area.
According to Breaking News Network reports, the source of the smoke could not so quickly be identified, as smoke filled the attic area of the home.
Deputy Chief Duncan responded to inquiries from TAPinto Montclair stating, "Firefighters cut a hole in the roof for ventilation and extinguished the fire."
He added that there had been moderate fire damage to the attic framing and ceiling joists, with smoke and some water damage throughout the rest of the house.
Firefighters from Bloomfield, Clifton, and West Orange responded to cover the town during the fire. This was the second fire of the day for Montclair.
Duncan stated, "No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation."
