Montclair Health Department Summer Program Offerings: Skin Cancer Screenings, Food Safety and More

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair Health Department is holding a number of screenings and health programs this summer. Programs are open to Montclair, Verona and Cedar Grove residents. For more information, contact the Department at 973-509-4970.

Skin Cancer Screenings 

Sign Up for E-News

A full body examination of the skin is performed by a physician to detect changes in its appearance, especially changes in existing moles and blemishes. Applies to those not under the care of a dermatologist. Registration is required. Free of charge.

Bone Density 

An ultrasound of the forearm can determine bone loss and risk for Osteoporosis. Registration is required. 

Fee: $12/person.

Cholesterol & Glucose Screenings 

Learn your total cholesterol, HDL, glucose and ratio with a simple, non-fasting finger stick test. Registration is required. Fee: $15 per person.

Weekly Walks 

 

Join us for a walk at Brookdale Park.

 

Wednesday nights 6:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Brookdale Park Bellevue Ave Entrance Bellevue Ave · Bloomfield, NJ 

 

How to find us: 

Enter from Bellevue Avenue and park in the first parking lot on the left. We will be gathering near the playground area. We will be walking the outer path. There are several break-off points if you do not want to walk the entire path. The Walk is about an hour or 3 miles. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early. The walk will start promptly at 6:00 P.M.

Smoking Cessation 

Quitting smoking greatly reduces the risk of developing smoking-related diseases. Tobacco/nicotine dependence is a condition that often requires repeated treatments, but there are helpful treatments and resources for quitting. Presented by Hetal Patel, M.D.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Rutgers University Board of Governors today approved a 2.3 percent hike in tuition and fees, as well as increases for dorm rooms and meals, for the 2018-2019 academic year.
