MONTCLAIR, NJ - There have been several Montclair High School graduates making some impressive moves on college football fields across the country. Numerous MHS football player alumni are currently playing on teams that went to or are going to Bowl games.

College football bowl games are usually played from mid-December to early January. According to published reports, the history of the bowl game began with the 1902 Tournament East-West football game, sponsored by the Tournament of Roses Association.

In 1916, the Tournament of Roses sponsored an annual contest starting with the 1916 Tournament East-West Football Game. Then in the 1923, it began to be played at the newly completed Rose Bowl stadium, thus the contest itself became known as the Rose Bowl game. Other cities caught on and now "bowl" games are played in several cities across the country.

Details of former MHS players are as follows:

Brandon Taylor played for St Francis, FCS Playoffs vs Villanova 11/26/16

Avery Ellis and Stephaun Marshall, Temple; Military Bowl vs Wake Forest, 1; 2/27

Elijah Robinson and Austin Stevens, Boston College; Quick Lane vs Maryland 12/26/16;

Josh Allen, Kentucky; Taxslayer Bowl vs Georgia Tech 12/31/16

Darius Slade, Ohio State; Fiesta Bowl vs Clemson  12/31/16
