Montclair High School Swim Team defeats MKA in Season Opener

The Montclair High School swim team competed in their first meet of the season against The Montclair Kimberley Academy on Thursday, December 1.  The Mounties scored decisive victories over the MKA boys 127-43 and girls 128-41.  

The Montclair girls were led by top finishers: senior Samantha Corredor, junior Amy Chen, sophomores Kathrynna Demetillo and Maya Crawford and freshman Mia Padberg.  The Montclair boys were led by the boys’ team co-captain, senior Kai Michaud and other top finishers: junior Steven Iovine, sophomore Thatcher Smith and freshmen Justin Ellis, Roman Miklaszewski and Tommy White. 

The Mountie girls and boys each swept 4 events and had 1-2 finishes in all but a few events.  Coach Ed Koenigsfest said “We have some outstanding new Mountie swimmers this year and this was a solid first meet.  We are looking forward to a great season.” The Mounties take on Glen Ridge next.
