MONTCLAIR - Montclair tied Verona, 1-1, in ice hockey Wednesday night at Clary Anderson Arena in Montclair.

Montclair started the first period pressuring Verona's defense, falling short against Liam Blaney who had a total 27 saves in the night.

Coming back for the second period, Montclair finally broke Verona's tight defensive game with an unassisted solo goal from Michael Gerne with 6:33 remaining.

After starting the final period with a series of attempted shots on goal, Verona bounced back with Stephen Wenzl tying everything up at 12:22 with an assist by Steven Topping and Anton Martino.

The last minutes were an electrifying battle between two sides who knew that a tie wouldn't do justice for such a competitive clash. Verona held Montclair with 3 shots coming in the dying minutes.

Montclair faces West Essex Saturday at 3:45 PM looking to recapture their winning streak.
